I set up The Caring Candle Company after the death of my dear father Les following a stroke at the tender age of 59 and after my wonderful mum Freda was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The thought of losing both my parents shook me to the core.
On her diagnosis, I didn't want to buy her flowers (as this was not a death nor a celebration) so I decided to make her a candle and called it "the candle of hope".
I wanted to understand what caused my dad to have a stroke and in doing so discovered a number of charities raising money to prevent others from suffering in the same way, so I decided to set up The Caring Candle Company with the aim of raising £1 million for good causes.
" Dad, I dedicate this to you, I love and miss you every day, but I know you are in heaven, where ever that may be, pushing me on and guiding me through. You will always be my hero."
